Basic Game Concepts
Many online casino players are familiar with the basic rules of Blackjack, a game where players aim to get as close to 21 points as possible without exceeding it, competing against the dealer or the house.
It’s a popular game due to its simplicity and ease of play, making it accessible even to beginners who can rely on luck to win.
However, experienced players in online live dealer casinos can use more advanced techniques to improve their chances and aim for higher payouts.

Basic Game Rules
First, let me explain the basic rules of the game. Although you may have a basic understanding of Blackjack from the previous descriptions, online casinos have specific rules and procedures for the game, as follows:
✦ Dealer Selection: At the beginning of the game, a player is chosen to be the dealer (or a live dealer handles the cards). The dealer is responsible for dealing the cards, while other players act as the “players.”
✦ Dealing Order: In online casino Blackjack, the dealer deals one face-down card to each player (not revealed) in a clockwise direction and then deals one face-up card to themselves. Then, the dealer deals one face-up card to each player, and the dealer also receives one face-up card.
✦ Insurance Option: If the dealer’s face-up card is a “10” or an “Ace,” the dealer will ask the players if they want to purchase “insurance.”
✦ Drawing Cards: After all face-up and face-down cards have been dealt, the dealer will ask each player if they want to draw additional cards. If needed, the dealer will give each player one face-up card until all players in the online casino have completed drawing cards.
✦ Dealer Reaches 17 Points: If the dealer’s hand has a total of less than 17 points, the dealer must continue to draw cards until the total is 17 or higher.
These rules form the basic gameplay of online casinos. Understanding these details will help players immerse themselves in the game and gain better control of Blackjack strategies.
Game-Specific Terminology
Now that you’ve learned the basic rules of Blackjack, let me introduce common Blackjack tips and terminology used in online casinos.
Understanding these terms will help you gain a deeper understanding of the game and navigate the tables with confidence. Here’s a detailed explanation:
✦ Hit: If a player believes that their two initial cards are insufficient to beat the dealer, they can choose to “hit.” In online casinos, the order of hitting is typically clockwise.
✦ Stand: When a player believes their total point value is sufficient, they can choose to “stand,” meaning they won’t request any more cards.
✦ Split: If a player is dealt a pair of identical cards, they can choose to “split” them into two separate hands. However, when splitting, they must bet an amount equal to their original bet on each hand.
✦ Bust: If a player’s total point value exceeds 21, they bust. When a player bursts, they must reveal all their cards, and the dealer wins their bets. If the dealer busts, they must pay the remaining players’ bets.
✦ Insurance: When the dealer’s face-up card is a “10” or an “Ace,” players can choose to purchase insurance by betting half of their original bet. This bet is a wager on whether the dealer has a Blackjack.
If it’s not a Blackjack, the insurance bet is lost; if it is a Blackjack, the player receives a payout of 2 times their original bet.
✦ Blackjack: This refers to a player’s hand with one face-down card and one face-up card, with one of them being an Ace and the other a 10-point card (10, J, Q, K).
This is called Blackjack and is considered the strongest hand in the game, superior to any other hand with a total of 21 points.
✦ Three Sevens: This refers to a player’s hand consisting of three “7-point” cards, totaling 21 points. In this case, the player can win three times their original bet.
✦ Five Dragons: If the dealer draws a fifth card without busting, all players must pay the dealer three times their original bets.
Blackjack Tips: Master These Four Techniques to Conquer the Online Casino
Blackjack Tips (1): Advanced Game Concepts
The first Blackjack tip is about understanding advanced game concepts. Advanced concepts involve key strategies to stabilize your gameplay.
Just like playing Baccarat or Texas Hold’em, you need to set some basic conditions before getting into the game, such as your expected playtime, target amount, stop-loss point, winning goal, and bet amount.
Once these details are in place, you can execute your techniques and strategies more efficiently in the game.
To implement the other Blackjack tips I’ll introduce later, you also need to adjust your mindset. During the game, you can’t expect to win every hand.
When things don’t go your way, it’s essential to stay calm, assess the current trends, and find important information to correct your course.
This way, losses will be brief moments rather than an endless cycle, allowing you to maintain better control over the overall game.
Blackjack Tips (2): Don’t Draw Cards When Your Total Points Exceed 12
Now, let’s move on to the second Blackjack tip: Don’t draw cards when your total points exceed 12. Yes, you read that correctly; you should stop drawing cards when your total points reach 12. You might be puzzled and think, “Why would I stop drawing cards when there’s still a 9-point gap to the upper limit?
Won’t I lose by not drawing cards?” I had the same reaction when I first encountered this Blackjack tip, but after discussing it with the player who invented it, I realized it’s a high-level strategy.
Indeed, when your total points are 12, there are still 9 possible points to reach the upper limit, but there’s one card that can instantly confiscate your chips – the “10-point card.
” A 10, J, Q, or K is worth 10 points, and in a game using 6 to 8 decks of standard playing cards, there are a total of 16 of these 10-point cards (4 each of 10, J, Q, K) in each deck. So, with 6 to 8 decks, there are 96 to 128 such cards sleeping in the shoe.
Do you realize how many cards that are and how high the probability of drawing a 10-point card is? That’s the core concept behind this Blackjack tip. The reason for not drawing cards is to avoid busting.
Furthermore, according to the rules of Blackjack, if the dealer’s face-up cards have a total of less than 17 points, the dealer must continue to draw cards until they have 17 or more points.
Under these rules, the dealer’s probability of busting when they have to draw to exceed a Blackjack is not low.
So, when your total points are already 12, not drawing cards is a strategy that, in terms of win rate, will ensure steady chip growth in the long run.
Blackjack Tips (3): Always Split Pairs
Perhaps many players who frequently play Blackjack in online casinos are familiar with the “pair splitting strategy chart.” The accuracy of that chart is recognized by many players, and it does indeed maintain a win rate of at least 50%.
However, the next Blackjack tip I’m going to introduce is an extension of that chart, and while it may not necessarily surpass the chart in terms of win rate, I’ve personally witnessed players using this technique to win significant amounts in a short time.
The concept of the third tip is simple: “Always split pairs.” Regardless of the pair you’re dealt, you should always split them. You might wonder, “But splitting pairs requires betting an equal amount again, isn’t that capital-intensive?”
Yes, according to Blackjack rules, when you choose to split pairs, you must indeed bet an amount equal to your original bet on each hand, essentially playing two hands in one round.
But what’s the logic behind this? Are we supposed to be reckless gamblers?
In reality, this Blackjack tip is not just a logical strategy; it’s also a calculated one. While it does require more capital to implement, it doesn’t make the game seem out of control.
In simple terms, when we split pairs and then draw additional cards, it doesn’t affect the probability of the dealer’s card outcomes. So, as long as the dealer’s face-up card is not a “10” or an “Ace,” splitting pairs efficiently increases the chances of growing your chips.
When you win, your payout is doubled, so using this technique over time will definitely lead to rapid chip accumulation.
Blackjack Tips (4): Focus on Betting Pairs
Next, this Blackjack tip is considered the number one in rarity. Do you remember a few years ago when I had some free time to watch players in a Blackjack game?
I stood behind a player who went from looking completely disinterested to having wide-open eyes and then to having a somewhat dazed expression. This player did only one thing for a whole two hours: “betting on pairs.”
This Blackjack tip may seem like a rash and impulsive approach, but it’s actually based on a logical concept. While it does require a larger capital investment, it doesn’t make the game appear excessively chaotic.
Think about it: when you bet 100 units on each of the five pairs, you invest a total of 500 units in one hand. If all five starting hands fail to produce a pair, the player naturally loses their 500 units.
However, if just one pair is formed in that hand, the player receives a payout of 11 times their bet (100 x 11 = 1100 units). Subtracting the losses from unsuccessful bets on four hands (100 x 4 = 400 units), the player ends up with a net profit of 700 units for that hand.
When you consider the return on investment, this is an impressive figure. This player used this technique to sweep the tables, regardless of the dealer’s card outcomes.
He wasn’t even playing Blackjack, so at the time, players gave him the nickname “Pair Killer”!
